Updated: Jan 12, 2023

Dear friends, dear supporters and dear fans!

We hope you had a good start into the new year and we are back with an update from the manufacturing period of the EDGE13.

We are participating!

We are pleased to announce that this year we will participate in Virtual Formula by VI-grade. This is a virtual driving simulator competition based on the rules and regulations of Formula SAE and Formula Student. For 2022, 121 Formula SAE and Formula Student teams from 16 countries all over the world have registered. The virtual races will take place starting in April.

EDGE13

  • The layer structure as well as the simulations of the monocoque are in the final phase. In addition, the ureol molds for the monocoque have been milled and are now going through the final preparations so that the laminating of the tooling can then begin.

  • We are crashing! The first set of wishbones has been laminated and is waiting to be crashed for testing purposes.

  • Furthermore, the HV battery container is designed and ready for manufacturing.

  • The driverless software is being developed further. This month a successful competition simulation could be completed for the first time!

  • The engine test bench is ready! It has already been tested and works perfectly.

  • The Powertrain module was able to refine the software for calibrating the resolver, making it largely automated. In addition, a FEM model of the engine was set up, which can be used to calculate its efficiency.

You never stop learning!

TU Wien Racing provides ongoing internal training. At the workshop "Welding, Turning, and Basics in the Workshop", all tools and their functions in our workshop were explained. In addition, a small test piece was made, whereby the participants were able to expand their manufacturing skills of flexing, drilling, filing and thread drilling under guidance.

The workshop "Laminating" was met with great interest by our members and gave everyone an understanding of the properties and handling of the exciting material carbon. After a theoretical part, everyone was able to apply the newly learned skills and laminate in small groups.

Until then!

Your TU Wien Racing
